I need to move the package servers and agents from one NS to another. Both are 7.1 SP2 MP1. I cannot find any documentation, especially a "best practices," for this procedure.
Here is the current situation: I have two NS. NS1 is a weak box, so I want to migrate the two PS and its agents to NS2, which is a much stronger box.
First, I want to move a test group of agents over to the new NS while leaving the NS1 setup alone. If I do this without moving the PS that they currently get their packages from, will they automatically get their packages from a PS on NS2? If they will, how would that PS be selected? Then, when I move the PS from NS1 to NS2 will this test group automatically go back to using that PS or continue using the one they moved to? It is important to note that all the PS, regardless of the NS they are assigned to, are geographically distant from one another.
Does any documentation exist for this? If not, has anyone in this forum done this and is willing to offer some advice?
