Use package delivery task to upgrade 7.6 agent & plugins?

I would like to be able to selectively target and upgrade SMA 7.6 clients and agent/plugins to 8.0 "on demand".

If I do this via a Job that is comprised of package delivery tasks for each agent / plugin;

-SMA

-Aplication Metering Plugin

-Deployment Solution Agent

-Inventory Agent

-Patch Management Agent

-Software Management Plugin

Would that work? Is there a preferred order of plugin / agent install? It would seem to me that the installation of certain plugin / agents might trigger a restart of SMA and therefore that task would register as failed....
