I'm evaluating 8.0, we are currently on 6.9. We are running into multiple issues that causing us to look seriously into other products. But I can't believe these are bugs, there has to be something we have setup wrong or doing wrong in general.
IMAGING:
1. Job set to Boot to WinPE, Deploy Image, Boot to Production. However, once the system boots to WinPE, the Boot To job sits waiting for the client to respond, not realizing it's in WinPE so it won't move on to deploy the image. Recreated job and tasks several times, no luck.
2. When we image (manually boot to WinPE and start Deploy Image task due to issue above), it doesn't seem to be using the unattend file specified in "custom sysprep confirugation file". I've added a simple section to create a new user on the machine so we can verify it's working, no luck. I tried the same file we currently use with 6.9, no luck How do we verify that it's using the unattend file?
3. Even when manually booting into WinPE and deploying the image job, half of the time the job will never actually start. Once I reboot a couple of times, it will finally start.
4. Upon imaging, the client takes 5-10 minutes to finally start talking to the server (agent is baked into the image). Once it starts talking, it's not grabbing device info such as the serial number of the computer. Even after forcing a Basic Inventory update.
Help on any of this would be greatly appreciated as we are currently evaulating BigFix as well and if you've ever used that....you know that I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to stick with Altiris! haha.
