Is LiveUpdate required for Symantec DLO?

Hi

We are rolling out Trend OfficeScan to multiple clients at the moment and the automated process to roll it out involves removing Symantec LiveUpdate. LiveUpdate gets installed when installing Symantec DLO and I was wondering what the function of LiveUpdate is for Symantec DLO? Is it needed? Will any DLO functionality be lost if LiveUpdate is removed?
